Bryn Mawr Dermatology looked high and low for a product that not only worked to reduce the severity and duration of active acne, but was safe to use on sensitive skin. Most spot treatments include ingredients like benzoyl peroxide - which can irritate skin and bleach clothing and pillow cases - and tretinoin - which while great as acne prevention, doesn’t serve to quell active acne. When we couldn't find anything on the shelves that met our expectations, we decided to label our own. The BMD Blemish Spot Treatment uses simple ingredients that have been tested and proven to have positive effects on skin, and combined them in an ingenious way that makes the most of each one’s strengths. One application serves to reduce the amount of oil-production, soothe inflamed skin, balance skin flora, and exfoliate dead skin cells which are the main causes of clogged pores. All of this without using harsh chemicals. Additionally, the unique suspension of alcohol that floats on top of the active ingredients serves to ensure that each application is as pure as the first.

First, wash your face with a gentle face cleanser, making sure not to scrub or irritate the skin. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel and allow it to dry completely. DO NOT SHAKE the spot treatment. Insert a clean cotton swab all the way to the bottom of the BMD Blemish Spot Treatment and spin it a few times in order to coat the cotton tip with the salve. Pull the cotton swab straight out of the bottle in a smooth motion, attempting to create as little disruption between the alcohol suspended on top and the ingredients below. Apply a dab of the Spot Treatment to each of your active breakouts and allow it to dry completely. If your skin feels dry, you can then apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer with your fingertips.

It also contains 10% Zinc - a skin protecting UV absorber that is a multitasking mineral to soothe irritation and provide antibacterial support. Finally 1% Salicylic Acid serves to reduce the appearance of blemishes and large pores by exfoliating dead skin cells and oily buildup within the pores. The results are fewer, smaller, less irritated pimples, which ultimately leads to clearer skin in just 12 hours.
